The wood-fired pizzas of Wijaya Beach - something of a south-coast institution - are a walk away.

Central Colombo is wihtin 2 hours' drive and, fully connected now by toll-road expressways, the International Airport is not much more.

This stretch of Southern coast, from Galle to Weligama, remains the most popular for international tourists with peak season from late December through to April.

The sea in front of Mihiri Beach House is swimmable for parts of the year but at times can be rough. Calm waters all year round are a five-minute stroll along the beach at above-mentioned Wijaya.
